About us
An association of Hispanic Baptist churches in Indiana
The Hispanic Baptist Association of Indiana is an autonomous association of Hispanic and bilingual Southern Baptist churches and church plants in the state of Indiana.
Our mission
To present the gospel to every Hispanic person in Indiana and beyond
To present the gospel of Jesus Christ to every Hispanic person in Indiana and beyond, and to make disciples of all nations, by connecting, strengthening, and multiplying healthy Hispanic Baptist churches that cooperate with SCBI and the Southern Baptist Convention.
Our vision
A network of vibrant, multiplying Hispanic Baptist churches throughout Indiana that reflect the diversity of the Latino community, develop indigenous leaders, plant new congregations, and participate fully in Cooperative Program missions—so that every person hears the gospel and disciples are made among all peoples, for the glory of God and the advance of His Kingdom.
Healthy churches
Doctrinally sound congregations worshiping in Spanish-language and bilingual settings.
Indigenous leaders
Pastors and leaders raised up from within the Hispanic community and equipped for ministry.
Multiplication
New churches and missions planted in underserved areas of the state.
Cooperative mission
Full participation in the SCBI and SBC Cooperative Program.
Values
What guides us
Our values are adapted from and consistent with the core values of the Southern Baptist Convention and the Baptist Faith & Message 2000.
01
Christlikeness
We depend on the transforming power of the Holy Spirit, the inerrant Word of God, and prayer to make us more like Jesus Christ.
02
Truth
We stand together in the truth of God’s inerrant Word, celebrating the faith once delivered to the saints, as summarized in the Baptist Faith & Message 2000.
03
Unity
We work together in love for the sake of the gospel, respecting the autonomy of each local church.
04
Relationships
We consider others more important than ourselves and value people above programs.
05
Trust
We speak the truth in love and do what we say we will do.
06
The local church
We believe the local church has the authority, power, and responsibility to present the gospel of Jesus Christ to every person.
07
Kingdom
We join with other followers of Christ for the sake of the gospel, the Kingdom of Christ, and the glory of God.
08
Cooperation and the future
We participate fully in the Cooperative Program and invest in the next generation of Hispanic leaders and churches so that the work continues faithfully until Christ returns.
What we believe
Baptist Faith & Message 2000
Our doctrinal statement is the Baptist Faith & Message 2000, the confession of faith of the Southern Baptist Convention. Every member church of the association affirms it.
We believe in the supreme authority of Scripture, salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, and the autonomy of the local church that voluntarily cooperates with other churches in mission.
